Crop price forecasting

End-to-end AutoML based, price forecasting framework. All the tools and technologies used in this project are Open source.

Motivation

  • 15 to 16 % of GDP is contributed by agriculture and its allied sectors

  • 55 to 60 of Indian households are depending on income generated by Agri sectors: which emphasizes how big is the base of the issue.

  • The price of agricultural products, such as preservable and non-preservable are volatile throughout the seasons. Unstable prices are heart-breaking for producers and painful for consumers Also, head-ache for serving governments: on the supply side, managing input material & on procurement, ensuring MSPs (Minimum supporting prices)

Possible Solution

  • A better estimation of prices of commodities in the long (12 to 36 months) and short term (3 to 5 months) can direct farmers toward the cultivation of remunerative crops

  • In turn, the Price managing strategy will ease the burden on incentives provided by governments. Also helps in the planning of input material

  • Price forecasting and demand estimation help in planning input supplies (Either raw or ready-to-consume) efficiently. In turn, the availability of products at affordable prices to consumers.

HatchMap

Hatchmap is designed to help local retailers predict future trends which will help them with their inventory management and optimising overall revenue. The model uses the strength of sentiments in order to predict sales. This model is using linear regression and sentiment analysis. The data is collected from Twitter's (open APIs) abiding privacy policies.

Future Scope

  • Given any product, we will fetch the required data from various websites and social media platforms.

  • Add the retailers/business's previous sales and other parameters (if applicable) that affect the sales.

  • The model would predict the upcoming sales even with the varying parameters and is capable to recognise data drifts.

  • This will help the retailer/business in procuring the right inventory for products that would create a significant impact on the business.

Understanding the state of microfinance and penetration of technology in banking sector for India

The outcome of the analysis revealed that the literacy rate (irrespective of social-economic status )of a given state in India has a significant impact on the utility of technology and availing microfinance.

Terrain Smart Safety System with Data Hub Establishment

The proposed terrain smart safety system using radio-frequency identification (RFID) aims to avoid the problems faced during traversing of treacherous mountain roads which generally consists of hairpin turns and steep edges. The RFID technique is used to detect and report the status of vehicles at every turn. The complete system provides an efficient way to identify the mishaps happening on mountain roads. The number of vehicles and its location can be monitored remotely and necessary actions can be initiated if required. Amateur drivers often traverse in such hostile conditions, leading to fatal mishaps. Due to lack of sufficient communication and availability of medical assistance in these locations, most of the accident cases remain anonymous. The deployment of this system aims to decrease the rate of accidents. The identification details of a vehicle and the passengers are recorded. The data can be handed over to the concern authorities in case of any accident or natural calamity.
